In Russia you may stay in a hotel, at your friends’ or rent an apartment.

    The Russian immigration legislation demands that foreign citizen must register their stay in Russia within three working days. The aim of the registration is to provide the address of your stay in Russia to the centralized databases. If you have come with a multi-entry one-year visa, then the maximum permitted duration of your stay will be 180 days. Your registration will be processed for this term as well unless you declare a smaller duration of stay.

    In other cases registration is processed for the validity term of your visa. Registration will also be indicated in your migration card. Try not to loose it until your departure. If this happens, ask the receiving party to restore the card and the registration within the time left before the departure

    If you choose to stay at a hotel, you will automatically receive registration, on arrival, for the term of your stay at the hotel, but for not more than three months.

    In other cases the receiving party (a Russian citizen or a Russian company) will take care of your registration. This will take several days and you’ll have to stay without passport during this period. A certificate of the stipulated form will be issued to you as a replacement.
